SUNDAYS WITH SHIFT KIDS

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’”
Matthew 19:14

Our goal in Shift Kids is to partner with families as they raise the next generation of Christ-followers. It’s our desire that each child, from infancy through fifth grade, grows to know, love, and follow Jesus.
From the moment they enter the room, we are committed to making sure that each child knows that Jesus loves them and we do too! We strive to teach truth from God’s word each and every Sunday. We plan and prepare activities that reinforce thinking about God’s truth as they apply to our daily lives, as well as provide some fun. We want kids to look forward to coming to church each and every week. Lastly, we value your child’s safety, which is why we have designed a detailed check in and check out process.
On Sunday Mornings, Shift Kids meet in small groups depending on age and grade.

Currently ALL Shift Kids classes are open during our 10am gathering.

Check-in is located in the Church lobby between the Nursery & Elementary classes.

All ages should check in there first.

All students are to be checked in by the adult that brings them, who will be given a number that corresponds to the number on their student’s name tag. Students will be released to the adult that brings that number back and gives it to the teacher.

Meet our Children’s Ministry Director

Ashley Hodges

My husband Stephen and I have been married since September of 2016. We have two children, Noah (3.5 years old) and Jeremiah (1 year old). I went to Western Oregon University, where I got my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Then attended George Fox University where I completed my Master’s in School Counseling. Previously, I was serving as a school counselor at South Albany High School before God opened the door to ministry. I loved working with high school students. It was constantly challenging me and encouraging me to grow and love kids in the midst of difficult times. But my first calling was elementary aged kids and I am so excited to be back serving the younger generation. This age group is so impressionable when it comes to building the foundation of Biblical knowledge and truth as they enter the tough, secular world and will constantly be challenged for what they believe. My desire is for them to leave feeling confident in what they know about Jesus and the life he has designed for them.

I am passionate about working with people! I love that I get to work with volunteers from the church that include parents and non-parents willing and ready to serve the Lord’s children. I pray and yearn that these kids will KNOW God and have a personal relationship with him. And that starts with modeling it from our leaders.

In my spare time, my husband and I love to travel. That used to involve traveling abroad and all over the world, but traveling domestically and within the state is equally as fun for us! We are so excited to adventure with our kiddos and show him more of God’s beautiful creation. When we aren’t traveling, we are usually walking the dog, doing puzzles, or doing projects around the house.

My absolute favorite scripture is from Psalms 139: 14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
