CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Last updated September 18, 2020

The coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected everyday life here in Albany, Oregon and throughout the rest of our nation and world. This page will contain the most up-to-date information about how our church is responding and to get answers to commonly asked questions. We are committed to our church continuing to be a safe place for all, including mentally, emotional, physically, and spiritually for people from all walks of life in our community.

We are still having church. You are still the church. We continue to serve you the church.

INDOOR CHURCH - OCTOBER 11TH

HOW WILL SEATING WORK?

We will only utilize every other row, and leave two seats between different households sitting in the same row.

SHOULD I WEAR A FACE COVERING?

We are asking for all attendees to wear a face covering at all times while inside the building. You may remove your face covering once you exit the building and are socially-distanced. We recognize this is not everyone’s preference, but it will be vital for us all to adhere to so that we
can continue in-person services.  An additional reason you’ll need to wear a mask is because we will sing! We value corporate worship, and we want to lift up our voices together to praise God.  We will continue to offer prepackaged communion at this time but will ask that family units partake together in your assigned area then put your masks back on.

Exceptions to wearing face coverings include: children younger than age 5, and those with a medical condition or disability that prevents wearing a face covering.

WHO SHOULD AND WHO SHOULD NOT ATTEND THIS INDOOR GATHERING?

Anyone and everyone is invited to our gathering. However, we ask that if you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 that you utilize our livestream option until 14 days have passed from the date of last exposure.

We are also participating in the State’s recommended protocol and ask that our at-risk population consider utilizing the 10am livestream option.

The State guidelines define at-risk population in this way…. “Those who are 65 or older, especially those with chronic lung disease; moderate to severe asthma; chronic heart disease; severe obesity; diabetes; chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis; liver disease; or weakened immune system.”

If you or anyone in your household have any signs of sickness (cough, sore throat, chills, headache, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, muscle pain, etc…) please stay home and join us online.

WHO CAN I SIT WITH DURING THIS INDOOR GATHERING?

Per the State’s recommended protocol:
Two or more members of the same household can sit with one another with 6 feet of separation from other parties.

WHAT ABOUT SHIFT KIDS AND CHILDCARE?

We will not offer Childcare or Shift Kids at this time.  Your children are welcome in the service, but we will not offer in-person, kid-specific programming; instead we will continue to utilize our weekly video lessons for kids on the Shift Kids webpage.

WHAT IF THE INDOOR GATHERING REACHES CAPACITY?

We invite you to attend The Shift livestream10am gathering from home.
Because we are requiring pre-registration for our indoor gathering, we will be able to communicate via our email newsletter and social media once capacity has been reached.

HOW DO I RSVP?

There will be a RSVP button on the website on Monday October 5th. Just click the button and it will take you to a form. Once you submit the form you will receive confirmation within 24hrs if we have space available that week to accommodate you and/or your family.

WHAT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS IS THE SHIFT TAKING?

We are utilizing the health protocols for houses of worship supplied by the Governor’s office in regards to our staff, volunteers, and facility.
We will also have hand sanitizer available, and have chosen to NOT serve coffee at this point. We will have bottle refill available for water, but no water fountain.

It’s important to note that this reopening update only applies to the Sunday gathering at this time.  All other ministries and events will continue to take place virtually or with limited in-person activities if they can meet distancing and number requirements and submit an approved gathering and cleaning plan. We will focus our attention on Sunday worship and will work to phase in other ministries at a later time.

We encourage you to choose the worship option that is best for you and your family:
In-Person: Gather with us at 10 a.m. at the Shift Campus though RSVP.
The Shift at Home: Gather with us virtually via the live stream every Sunday at 10 a.m.  (including Shift Kids lessons which are posted on social media every weekend)
Groups: Gather in homes with your Gospel Community Group or host a watch party in person and join us for the livestream if you can maintain the 10 person limit.
