Resources for Sunday

April 5, 2020

Hello Shift Families!

I know I can speak for each of our Shift Kids Leaders when I say, "I miss your kiddos!!!" I take great comfort in knowing that God is not caught off guard with all that is happening around us, and is completely in control of the entire situation. We can trust His sovereign plan, but at the same time I am sure looking forward to being all together again!!!

Here are the lessons, videos and activities you will need to lead your kids through lessons that are age appropriate and engaging. Although the materials are split into differing age groups, you could certainly use all of them to have a rich, fun family time together! I think you, as adults, will enjoy it as well!

I am praying that this Sunday will be a time where your family will draw closer to God and closer to each other as you study His Word together!

Elementary Shift Kids (K-5th Grade)

As you go through the coming month of continued quarantine, your kids will certainly have opportunities to apply in very practical Life Application in many ways! Putting others first is HARD, but we have the amazing example of Jesus, who put us all first by giving up what He deserved and taking the punishment for our sins for us because of His great love!

Here are the curriculum resources for you to be able to lead your kids in lessons for this week that will reinforce the Theme and LifeApp. We use both of the videos for Elementary and Preteens on Sunday mornings. I appreciate the way the story is taught in the lesson for elementary kids and the kids LOVE the So and So Show in the Preteen video! You will also find Parent Guides that give you activities and discussion questions to help reenforce the weekly lesson. You will find all of the videos for Elementary, Preteens and Preschool at the same Vemeo link.

It would be wonderful if during this time when we have been forced to slow down and stay home, the kids could start a habit of using their God Time papers throughout the week to get into God's Word! I highly encourage you to help them make this a priority! It might be fun if you would take a picture and post it to our social media platform to encourage others to do the same! Be sure and tag Shift Kids or @shiftkids.

Preschool Shift Kids  (3.5yo - 5yo)

I have included two different curriculums for you to use this week. The Bible App for Kids is the curriculum we normally use on Sunday mornings, so your kids will recognize all of their "friends"!

This month we will be focusing on "Happy Sunday!"  and remember the "best day ever!" when Jesus rose from the dead! There is a Parent Question guide included to help you lead your kids in some great discussions!

We do not usually use the First Look curriculum from Orange, but it is available for us to use, so I thought I'd include it.

It would be fun for you to share your children's completed placemat and/or Adventure Book on one of our social media platforms. Its a great way for us to stay connected!

WELCOME to Shift Kids

learning to love god and love others

(birth - 5th grade)

We believe that Jesus really does “love the little children” and we are so blown away by the fact that He has given us the privilege of sharing His love with each and every child that walks through the doors!

From the moment they enter the room, we are committed to making sure that each child knows that Jesus loves them and we do, too! During the time they are involved in Sunday morning activities children will hear truths taught from God’s Word through live teaching and multi-media. They will also participate in games and activities that reinforce the truths taught and help children apply those truths to their lives!

Activities planned for Shift Kids throughout the year include Rangers Club during the school year, Fun Friday events, and day camp during the summer. Please check back at this web site as well as the Shift Kids Facebook page for more information!

SUNDAYS with Shift Kids

On Sunday Mornings, Shift Kids meet in small groups depending on age and grade.

All students are to be checked in by the adult that brings them, who will be given a number that corresponds to the number on their student’s name tag. Students will be released to the adult that brings that number back and gives it to the teacher.

1st and 2nd GATHERING

All students from birth - 5th grade will check in at the area to the left as you enter.

Our Early Childhood rooms are divided by age: NURSERY is for birth-2 - this room is around the corner to the left of check in, TODDLERS is 2-3 1/2 year olds and is located to the right of check in

and our PRESCHOOL room is for 3 1/2-5 year olds (next to Toddler room).

The Elementary (K-5th) meet through the double doors to the left. Kids start out in their small groups, according to grade in school (K/1st, 2nd/3rd/4th/5th) then meet together for large group teaching and worship, and then move back to small groups for activities.

During 1st Gathering, we offer a place for the kids of our volunteers who will be attending both Gatherings where they play games and hang out with fun adults and friends. We call this group Double Dippers.

Again, welcome and thank you for allowing us to be a part of your children’s lives. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us.

The Rangers program is an activity-based, small group church ministry for young men and women in grades 1st-5th. Our mission is to evangelize, equip and empower the next generation of Christlike men and women and lifelong servant leaders. We provide Christlike character formation and servant leadership development for kids in a highly relational and fun environment.

The Rangers program is a cross-generational ministry that interconnects well with children, youth and adult ministries and fits easily into the fabric of pastoral vision and into the flow of church ministries. We affirm the hands-on, interactive learning style by featuring an intentional discipleship journey for young people based on their unique design, needs and interests. Every meeting, outing or service activity is designed to encourage boys and girls and commanders in their walk with God.
